Mahindra Expands Technical Training Capacity with New Kolkata Facility
The center can accommodate over 100 participants simultaneously and features five demonstration bays for hands-on training.
Mahindra has inaugurated a 12,000-square-foot training facility in Kolkata's New Town automotive hub, enhancing its service capabilities across East and North-East India. The Mahindra Institute of Learning Excellence (MILE) facility, opened February 19, will train channel partners, international distributors, and fleet owners on vehicle maintenance and repair.
The center can accommodate over 100 participants simultaneously and features five demonstration bays for hands-on training. Special attention has been given to electric vehicle servicing, with specific training for Mahindra's Electric Origin SUVs and the INGLO electric architecture.
Technical instruction will cover battery technology, advanced diagnostics, collision repair, and aggregate overhaul sections for engines and transmissions. The facility includes specialized training for BS6 and 6.2 compliance standards and electronically assisted transmissions.
"This expansion reflects our commitment to technical excellence and customer-centric solutions," a company representative stated. The location in Kolkata's automotive district provides convenient access for service personnel from throughout the region.
The training center represents Mahindra's response to India's evolving automotive landscape, particularly the growing electric vehicle market. By preparing its service network for both conventional and electric powertrains, the company aims to ensure consistent after-sales support across its product range.
Mahindra Group, established in 1945, employs 260,000 people across more than 100 countries. The company maintains market leadership in farm equipment and utility SUVs within India and operates the world's largest tractor manufacturing operation by volume. Its business interests extend to information technology, financial services, renewable energy, agriculture, logistics, hospitality, and real estate.
The company has increasingly focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives in recent years, with particular emphasis on rural development and urban living improvements. This training facility opening follows Mahindra's broader strategy of strengthening its technical infrastructure while transitioning toward electric mobility.
The new MILE facility in Kolkata joins Mahindra's existing network of training centers across India, which collectively work to standardize service quality and technical competence throughout the company's sales and service network.
