Luminous SIEP E-Bike Challenge 2024 showcases green mobility and innovation

In an display of engineering prowess and sustainable innovation, the Luminous SIEP E-Bike Challenge 2024 (from January 24 to 28), organised by the Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIEINDIA) and hosted by IES University, showcased cutting-edge technology and the future of green mobility.

A total of 38 teams from 16 states participated in the challenge, reflecting the growing interest in electric vehicle technology across the country. Luminous Power Technologies, a trusted brand in power backup and residential solar products, served as the title sponsor, contributing to the diversity of ideas and solutions presented in the competition.

Over five days, a jury comprising experts from motorsport, automotive, and supplier industries rigorously evaluated the teams and their electric bike prototypes. Criteria included engineering design, overall cost, marketability, and dynamic performance. On-track assessments at IES University tested real-world performance and durability, incorporating various dynamic tests such as Acceleration, Hill Climb, Off-Road, Self-Balancing, Vehicle Run Modes, Driverless Parking, and Durability.

Out of the 38 teams, 20 qualified technical inspection and participated in the dynamic rounds, showcasing groundbreaking engineering achievements. Team Dark from Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Tamil Nadu emerged as the Overall Champion, with Team Infiltrators from Parul University, Gujarat securing the 1st Runner-Up position and Team Mechatrons from Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu standing at the third position.

The Flag-Off and Valedictory Ceremonies were attended by industry delegates from Luminous Power Technologies, Go Sporty Electric, Jeewan Motors Pvt. Ltd., Nexcity Solutions Pvt. Ltd., JBM Group, ISIEINDIA, TATA Motors, Voltme Motors, ABZO Motors, EKA Mobility, and academicians from 30+ engineering institutes.

The essence of the Luminous SIEP E-Bike Challenge lies in the ingenuity displayed by the participating teams. The young engineers demonstrated their capabilities by designing and building electric bike prototypes that not only met stringent criteria but also pushed the boundaries of what is currently possible in the electric vehicle field.
