LP Logiscience aiming for 50% EV/CNG fleet

In a major push for sustainable logistics, LP Logiscience, the warehousing and 3PL arm of the Liladhar Pasoo Group, has announced a significant transformation of its transportation network. The company aims to achieve a 50% electric vehicle (EV) and compressed natural gas (CNG) fleet, directly catering to the growing demand for greener logistics options. This strategic move prioritises both sustainability and efficiency, significantly enhancing LP Logiscience's service offerings.

The urgency for sustainable practices is undeniable. Climate change, air and water pollution, and resource depletion are pressing issues demanding immediate action. The logistics industry, a significant contributor to global economic activity, accounts for roughly 14% of global greenhouse gas emissions according to a recent World Bank study. The environmental cost of traditional logistics is substantial, from smog-inducing air pollution caused by nitrogen oxide emissions to rising global temperatures due to greenhouse gases released by congested traffic. Dependence on fossil fuels not only pollutes the air but also depletes finite resources, hindering the shift to cleaner energy sources. These issues necessitate a transformation in logistics, and LP Logiscience's focus on sustainable solutions like electric and CNG vehicles is a crucial step toward a greener future, the company shared.

Apart from building a fleet of green transport vehicles, LP Logiscience is committed to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, keeping sustainability at its core. Their newest GRADE A warehouse in Bhiwandi, Mumbai, exemplifies this dedication. This massive 15-acre facility with 500,000 sq. ft. of storage (30,000 pallets) is equipped with a state-of-the-art 450 kW solar power plant generating 6.10 lakh units of clean energy annually. The facility also boasts a robust rainwater harvesting system and a well-maintained plantation of trees. In terms of transportation, LP Logiscience currently manages a robust supply chain network, moving over 28,000 shipments monthly across 19,000 pin codes. Their fleet of 150 owned vehicles and 1200+ partner vehicles, ranging from light-duty to 40ft trucks (including EVs, CNG vehicles, and standard options), transports up to 250,000 MT per year. The vision to move 50% of their fleet to EV/CNG prioritizes sustainability and efficiency, strengthening LP Logiscience's service offerings while meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly logistics solutions.

"Sustainable logistics is a core priority for LP Logiscience," said Varun Gada, Director, of LP Logiscience. "By expanding our fleet with eco-friendly options and are also closely monitoring developments in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Hydrogen-powered vehicles, particularly for long-haul transportation needs. Our aim is to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to a greener future, while enhancing efficiency and customer experience. This aligns perfectly with our customer demands and the national vision of sustainable development. We are committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders in the logistics industry to drive positive change and create a more sustainable future for generations to come."

Going forward, LP Logiscience aims to expand its geographical reach by adding new locations and pin codes, accompanied by an increase in fleet size and a stronger vendor network, ensuring wider service coverage and faster delivery times. The growing demand for sustainable solutions is a key driver. The company recognises the positive impact of EV/CNG vehicles in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change.

Recognising the value of transparency and efficiency, LP Logiscience will also invest in technological advancements including live tracking/GPS and documentation automation, which will help build a seamless customer experience and improved operational control. As LP Logiscience expands its warehousing and customer footprint, significant investments will be made in these eco-friendly solutions. By staying ahead of the curve and exploring these emerging technologies, LP Logiscience positions itself to be a leader in sustainable logistics for years to come.
