LANXESS Inaugurates Lubricant Additives Blending Plant in Gujarat, Signs MoU with IOCL
The Jhagadia facility will supply customers in India, the Middle East, and other international markets.
German specialty chemicals company LANXESS on April 28, 2026, inaugurated a lubricant additives blending plant at its existing chemical manufacturing site in Jhagadia, Gujarat, marking the first phase of its expanded manufacturing presence in India. The facility will serve domestic customers as well as markets in the Middle East and other international geographies.
On the same day, LANXESS signed a memorandum of understanding with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to bring its lubricant additive technologies to the Indian market, and also commenced third-party manufacturing activities for its lubricant additives business unit in India.
The plant has been developed with a focus on safety, energy efficiency, and environmental practices. The company said the facility is intended to support faster delivery and closer technical collaboration with customers.
India is the third largest lubricants market globally. LANXESS set up an Application Technology Center in the country in 2025, and the Jhagadia plant is positioned as the next step in its local manufacturing strategy.

LANXESS reported sales of EUR 5.7 billion in 2025 and employs approximately 11,700 people across 32 countries.
