Specialty chemicals company LANXESS and Hindustan Colas Private Limited (HINCOL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation in road construction technologies for the Indian infrastructure market.

The MoU, signed between LANXESS India Private Limited and HINCOL, sets a framework to evaluate technical, commercial and business opportunities in bitumen and asphalt modification technologies. Senior representatives from both organisations attended the signing.

Under the MoU, the companies will jointly assess solutions aimed at improving pavement performance and production efficiency, reducing environmental impact and supporting sustainable road infrastructure in India.

The companies will conduct joint laboratory and commercial-scale evaluations of Addipave CR 36, LANXESS’ cross-linking technology for Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) applications.

The technology is expected to improve PMB production efficiency, product consistency and quality, and operational safety, and to support better performance of modified bitumen formulations.

LANXESS will provide the product, technical expertise and trial support. HINCOL will contribute testing facilities, operational support and performance assessment under local conditions.

The cooperation also covers evaluation and promotion of Addipave WM 23, LANXESS’ warm mix asphalt additive technology. Through joint trials and market development initiatives, the parties aim to reduce asphalt production and paving temperatures while maintaining road performance standards.

Potential benefits include lower energy consumption, reduced emissions and improved workplace conditions.

The companies aim to combine LANXESS’ expertise in specialty additives and formulation technologies with HINCOL’s experience in bitumen technology, road construction solutions and infrastructure projects in India. They intend to support the adoption of advanced pavement technologies.

“With HINCOL’s local market insight, we aim to expand our footprint in India for asphalt application tailored to the requirements of the local market.” said Vince Patram, Global Head of Marketing, Business Unit Lubricant Additives, LANXESS.

“India’s infrastructure sector continues to demand innovative solutions that improve road performance while supporting sustainability objectives. Through this collaboration with HINCOL, we look forward to demonstrating the value of our Addipave technologies and working together to develop solutions that can help improve operational efficiency, quality and environmental performance in the road construction industry.” said Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice President & Global Head of the Business Unit Lubricant Additives, LANXESS.

“This collaboration brings together complementary expertise from both organizations. We are pleased to work with LANXESS in evaluating advanced technologies that have the potential to enhance pavement performance, improve sustainability and create long-term value for the Indian road construction industry.” said Debashis Chakraverty, CEO & Director, HINCOL.

LANXESS is a specialty chemicals company with sales of EUR 5.7 billion in 2025. It has about 11,500 employees in 32 countries. Its core business is the development, manufacturing and marketing of chemical intermediates, additives and consumer protection products.

Hindustan Colas Private Limited (HINCOL) provides bitumen, modified bitumen products and road construction solutions in India. It serves customers across the infrastructure sector.
