Land Rover announced today the launch of Defender OCTA Black, a new variant of its high-performance SUV that incorporates extensive black styling elements throughout the vehicle's exterior and interior.
The OCTA Black features black finishes on up to 30 exterior components, including the front undershield, rear scuff plates, and quad exhaust tips. The vehicle comes standard in Narvik Black paint, though customers can opt for a Matte Protective Film finish. Wheel options include 20-inch forged wheels or 22-inch variants, both available in black finishes.
The interior introduces Ebony Semi-Aniline Leather with Kvadrat fabric to the Defender lineup for the first time. The material features unique perforation patterns and stitching details on the Performance Seats, while dashboard elements receive Satin Black Powder Coat finishes. An optional Chopped Carbon Fibre finish is available for interior details.
The OCTA Black retains the same mechanical specifications as the standard OCTA model, including a 635-horsepower 4.4-liter twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine, 6D Dynamics suspension system, and dedicated OCTA Mode for off-road performance. The vehicle also includes Body and Soul Seats technology, developed with SUBPAC, which allows occupants to feel audio vibrations through the seats.
"We know our clients love giving their Defenders all-black finishes, so our designers have applied this principle to every possible surface to create the ultimate tough luxury Defender OCTA," said Mark Cameron, Managing Director for Defender.
Land Rover has designated Defender as the official automotive partner for Oasis Live '25, the British band's 41-date global tour that began Friday. The partnership will see Defender vehicles used for transportation during the tour.
The OCTA Black joins the existing OCTA lineup, which recently expanded to include Sargasso Blue and Borasco Grey color options alongside the original Charente Grey and Petra Copper variants. A Patagonia White Matte Wrap option will become available later in 2025.
The Defender brand, which traces its origins to the first Land Rover in 1948, is available in 90, 110, and 130 body styles across 121 countries. The vehicle is designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom as part of Jaguar Land Rover's portfolio of brands.
