Land Rover has unveiled the 2025 Defender (25MY) lineup, featuring significant upgrades aimed at improving both on-road and off-road performance. A key highlight of the new model is the introduction of the V8 P425 engine, which delivers 313 kW of power. The updated Defender is available in three body styles—Defender 90, 110, and 130—and includes X-Dynamic HSE and X derivatives.

Priced from Rs 1.39 Cr (ex-showroom), the Defender 25MY aims to combine luxury, capability, and advanced technology for diverse terrains, the company said.

The Defender 25MY is powered by the V8 P425 engine which the company said is designed to ensure reliable performance across varying road conditions. Features such as Terrain Response and Configurable Terrain Response enable drivers to customise settings for optimal handling on different surfaces, it added.

The model also includes electronic air suspension and adaptive dynamics, aimed to enhance ride quality and comfort. Additionally, the 25MY lineup is equipped with all-terrain tires and 20-inch Satin Dark Grey wheels.

The 25MY Defender features upgraded interiors featuring windsor leather seats, 14-way heated and cooled electric memory front seats with ebony interiors and winged headrests. The second row has climate-controlled seats with similar headrests. Additional refinements include Nubuck-edged carpet mats, suedecloth headlining, a leather steering wheel, and upholstery options such as Kvadrat or Ultrafabrics.

The technology suite includes the PiVi Pro system with an 11.4-inch touchscreen, an interactive driver display, and a 3D surround camera. Other comfort features include configurable cabin lighting, matrix LED headlights with DRLs, a sliding panoramic roof, and a Meridian sound system. It comes with practical additions such as a front center console refrigerator compartment and a soft-close tail door. The Defender 130 variant introduces captain chairs in the second row, offering easy access to the third row.

Other features aimed at improving driving and comfort include an electronic active differential, roof rails, all-terrain tires, wade sensing and electronic air suspension.

The Defender 25MY comes with a black contrast roof and various tailored enhancement packs, including cold climate, advanced off-road, and family comfort packs.

According to Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India, “The Defender represents the pinnacle of capability and refinement in our product lineup. With the new V8 P425 engine and a host of advanced comfort features, we are proud to offer our customers a vehicle that seamlessly combines luxury, comfort, innovative technology, and all-terrain prowess.”
