Bajaj Mobility AG, formerly known as PIERER Mobility AG and the parent company of KTM Group, announced on January 13, 2026, that it will reduce its workforce by approximately 500 employees as part of a comprehensive efficiency program aimed at strengthening the company's long-term competitiveness.
The job cuts, which primarily affect white-collar positions and middle management, come as the company continues its recovery from KTM AG's insolvency at the end of 2024. The headcount stood at 3,794 employees as of December 31, 2025, down from 5,310 the previous year.
According to CEO Gottfried Neumeister, the reduction is necessary to lower costs, streamline structures, and stabilize the company for the future. "We are reducing complexity across all areas—for example in our model range, in IT, and also in the organization of our departments, particularly by removing one management layer," Neumeister stated.
The company reported consolidated sales of just over EUR 1 billion for fiscal year 2025, representing a 46% decline compared to the previous year. However, motorcycle sales showed signs of recovery in the second half of 2025, with 80,464 units sold—a 60% increase over the first half. Total motorcycle sales for 2025 reached 209,704 units, down 28% year-over-year.
One significant achievement highlighted in the announcement was the reduction of motorcycle inventory by more than 100,000 units, from 248,580 units at the end of 2024 to 147,427 units by December 31, 2025. Company officials noted that this inventory reduction occurred faster than expected due to strong customer demand.
As part of its strategic realignment, Bajaj Mobility has divested several non-core assets, including the sale of FELT Bicycles in 2025, the termination of CFMOTO distribution, and the sale of MV Agusta and X-Bow. The bicycle division sold 64,110 e-bicycles and bicycles in 2025, down 40% from the previous year, before being closed.
The company is now concentrating exclusively on its core motorcycle segment with three brands: KTM, GASGAS, and Husqvarna. Despite the financial challenges, KTM achieved notable success in motorsport during 2025, securing 29 championship titles.
Bajaj Mobility operates with Bajaj Auto International Holdings B.V. as its majority shareholder, which the company describes as providing solid support for the restructuring efforts in Austria and globally. Strategic partner Bajaj Auto sold 43,956 motorcycles on behalf of the group in the second half of 2025.
The company plans to publish preliminary figures for the 2025 fiscal year on January 29, 2026. Management expects that the implementation of cost reduction measures will result in economic improvements throughout 2026.
