Kia Corporation unveiled the exterior design of its PV5 Passenger and Cargo models on February 20, 2025, ahead of their full presentation at the Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain on February 24. The models represent Kia's first dedicated offerings under its new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) global business strategy.
The mid-sized PV5, initially previewed as a concept at CES 2024, aims to redefine space and mobility concepts through modular design allowing for unprecedented customization. Kia plans to offer the vehicle in multiple configurations to meet various usage needs, with additional specialized conversion options to be revealed later this month.
According to Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design, all PV5 variants share consistent design values inspired by the company's "Opposites United" philosophy despite their different body styles. The Passenger model features a refined geometric profile with large window areas, black graphic glass surrounds, and geometric wheel arch claddings that suggest off-road capability.
The Cargo variant maintains similar geometric design elements but adopts a boxier profile for enhanced space efficiency. It notably differs with twin side-opening tailgate doors for improved loading access, contrasting with the Passenger model's single lift-up tailgate.
Full product details, including interiors and additional derivative models, will be released on February 27, with event video coverage available on Kia's YouTube channel in March.
