Kia India marks 1 Lakh CKD exports, targets doubling volumes by 2030
Achieving a key export milestone, Kia India plans to expand CKD shipments to new regions, including the Middle East and Africa, while continuing to strengthen its global footprint with ‘Make in India’ vehicles.
Kia India has announced that it has crossed the milestone of exporting 1,00,000 CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units since commencing shipments in June 2020 from its Anantapur manufacturing facility. This achievement highlights the company’s role in positioning India as an export hub for Kia Corporation.
Kia India contributes 50% of the corporation’s global CKD exports, underlining its significance in the company’s global operations. For 2024, Kia India expects to export over 38,000 CKD units to key markets, including Uzbekistan, Ecuador, and Vietnam. The company’s exports primarily include the Seltos, Sonet, and Carens models, which have been well-received internationally due to their competitive pricing and features.
Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India, stated that India plays a crucial role in Kia Corporation’s global strategy, not only as a strong sales market but also as a growing export base. He noted that the company aims to expand its CKD exports to new regions, including the Middle East and Africa, with plans to double export volumes by 2030. He also acknowledged the support of government policies in facilitating exports and strengthening India’s role in the global automotive supply chain.
Since its inception, Kia India has exported a cumulative total of 3.67 lakh units, reflecting global demand for its vehicles manufactured in India. These vehicles are designed to cater to diverse market requirements while maintaining high quality.
