Kawasaki has launched the Z300 in India at Rs 3.24 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as the entry-level model in the brand’s Z line-up, the sport-naked combines a parallel-twin engine with streetfighter styling and an upright riding position.
Kawasaki Z300: Engine and gearbox
The Kawasaki Z300 is powered by a 296cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine shared with the Ninja 300. It produces 39hp at 11,000rpm and 26.1Nm at 10,000rpm, with power sent to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle follows Kawasaki’s ‘Sugomi’ design philosophy, drawing styling inspiration from the larger Z900. Its features include a wide, upright handlebar, dual-channel ABS and a reverse LCD instrument cluster similar to the one used on the Ninja 500.
The Z300 is available in two colour options: Lime Green and Black.
Kawasaki Z300: Hardware and cycle parts
The Z300 uses the same tubular frame as the Ninja 300. Suspension duties are handled by a 37mm conventional telescopic fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear.
The motorcycle is also expected to retain the Ninja 300’s 17-inch alloy wheels and braking hardware, comprising a 290mm petal disc at the front and a 220mm petal disc at the rear.
Kawasaki Z300: Price and rivals
Priced at Rs 3.24 lakh, the Kawasaki Z300 competes with the KTM 390 Duke, priced at Rs 2.85 lakh, and the TVS Apache RTR 310, which costs Rs 2.30 lakh.
Both rivals use single-cylinder engines and offer a more performance-oriented chassis setup. The Z300’s parallel-twin engine, meanwhile, could appeal to buyers prioritising smoother power delivery, alongside Kawasaki’s brand appeal and distinctive styling.
All prices are ex-showroom.
