JSW MG Motor's CSR initiative reaches 70,000 women and girls in 2024
The MG Sewa initiative by JSW MG Motor reached 70,000 women and girls in 2024, offering education and hygiene programs across India.
JSW MG Motor India's social initiative MG Sewa impacted over 70,000 women and girls among its 1.2 lakh beneficiaries in 2024, focusing on education and hygiene programs across India, the company announced on February 5, 2025.
The program, launched before the company began vehicle sales in India, implemented WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives that reached 16,730 women and girls, promoting menstrual hygiene in underserved regions. In rural Odisha, the initiative introduced mathematics programs in over 100 government schools, reaching 80,000 children.
CEO Emeritus Rajeev Chaba stated the company aims to support as many women as the cars it sells, highlighting the program's voluntary nature outside mandated CSR requirements.
The initiative operates through employee volunteerism, with staff members providing mentorship and crowdfunding support beyond working hours. MG's dealer partners contribute through funding and direct community engagement.
JSW MG Motor India, formed after JSW's acquisition of MG Motor's India operations, has been expanding its presence in the Indian automotive market while maintaining social development programs. The company's approach combines business operations with community development, particularly focusing on education and women's empowerment.
The automotive sector in India has seen increasing emphasis on corporate social responsibility, with several manufacturers implementing education and skill development programs. MG Sewa's focus on voluntary initiatives, rather than mandatory CSR, represents a different approach to corporate community engagement.
