JSW MG Motor India Posts 14% Sales Growth in August 2026, Launches Hector Tomahawk in EV and PHEV Variants

JSW MG Motor India sold 7,508 wholesale units in August 2026, a 14% increase over the same month last year. The figure marks a continuation of the company's sales trajectory, though the growth rate is slower than the 52% year-on-year increase it recorded in August 2025, when monthly sales reached 6,578 units — up from 4,323 units in August 2024.

The company also launched the MG Hector Tomahawk during the month, an SUV available in both electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) configurations. The Tomahawk is built on what JSW MG Motor describes as a multi-powertrain platform called ADAPT, and represents the company's attempt to address buyers who want flexibility in drivetrain choice within a single model line.

MG Hector Tomahawk Delivery Timeline

Deliveries of the Hector Tomahawk EV are scheduled to begin in September 2026, while test drives and deliveries of the PHEV variant are set to commence in November 2026. Dealership dispatches of the EV have already begun.

JSW MG Motor's EV Sales and Market Share in India

JSW MG Motor India is a joint venture between the JSW Group and Chinese automaker SAIC Motor. The company has sold over 1,50,000 electric vehicles in India since its first EV launch, with the MG Windsor holding the position of the country's top-selling EV. The Windsor sold 19,394 units in FY2025 after its launch in September 2024, and held the top spot among EVs for ten consecutive months.

Electric vehicles accounted for approximately 58% of the company's total volumes in FY2025, against an industry-wide EV penetration of around 2.7% in passenger car sales for the same period. As of March 2025, JSW MG Motor held a 31% retail market share in the passenger EV segment, behind Tata Motors, which held a 38% share.
