JSW MG Motor India announced the expansion of its faculty development program aimed at preparing educators for the country's transition to electric vehicles and advanced automotive technologies.
The JSW MG Nurture initiative, now in its third year, has trained more than 80 faculty members from engineering, diploma, and ITI institutions across India. The program focuses on electric vehicles, autonomous driving, connected mobility, and artificial intelligence applications in the automotive sector.
Since launching in 2023, the program has reached over 50 institutions and indirectly affected thousands of students nationwide. Faculty members participate in workshops designed to bring current industry practices into academic curricula.
The initiative supports India's National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes industry-academia collaboration, and the government's EV 2030 roadmap. According to government projections, India will need over 10 million skilled professionals in the electric vehicle sector to meet its transition goals.
"JSW MG Nurture reflects our commitment to skill development and industry-academia collaboration," said Yeshwinder Patial, Senior Director of Human Resources at JSW MG Motor India. "By investing in faculty development, we are strengthening technical education and preparing students for the future of mobility."
Skill-Lync serves as the program's education partner, developing curriculum modules and delivering training sessions tailored for academic faculty. The company has designed the content to align with current industry requirements and emerging technologies.
JSW MG Motor India plans to expand the program to hundreds of institutions and add modules covering advanced battery systems, robotics in manufacturing, and AI-powered mobility solutions. Additional training sessions are scheduled for 2025.
The automotive industry in India faces a skills shortage as manufacturers shift toward electric vehicles and digital technologies. Traditional automotive education programs often lack current industry knowledge, creating a gap between academic training and employer needs.
The program represents part of broader industry efforts to address workforce development challenges as India's automotive sector undergoes technological transformation.
