JLR India reports retail sales of 4,436 units, up by 81% year-on-year
JLR reports its one of the best performances in the market since its launch in India in 2009, also its highest sales in the last five years.
JLR India, the wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited, reported retail sales of 4,436 units, a year-on-year growth of 81% for the full year ended 31 March 2024. The company said it represents one of the best performances in the market since its launch in India in 2009. It is also its highest sales in the last five years.
Range Rover and Defender retail sales continued to grow with year-on-year increases of 160% and 120% respectively. The recently launched 2024 Model Year Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque grew by 50% and 55% year-on-year respectively.
Total retail sales for the fourth quarter were 854 units, up 43% year-on-year.
“During the past year, JLR India has achieved a series of retail sales records, resulting in a strong full year position for the year ended 31 March 2024. We remain confident in our strategy and vision for the years to come,” Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said.
He adds that the positive gains the company has made in the last year across product segments, but particularly the Range Rover and Defender brands, reflect the growing demand for high-quality premium luxury vehicles in India. “We remain committed to our discerning clientele as we continue to create the world’s most desirable luxury vehicles,” he adds.
JLR’s certified pre-owned business grew by 28% year-on-year compared with the same period last year, reflecting the growing demand and equity of JLR brands in India.
JLR’s Reimagine strategy is delivering a sustainability-rich vision of modern luxury by design. “We are transforming our business to become carbon net zero across our supply chain, products, and operations by 2039. We have set a roadmap to reduce emissions across our own operations and value chains by 2030 through approved, science-based targets,” the company said.
Electrification is central to this strategy and before the end of the decade Range Rover, Discovery, and Defender collections are expected to have a pure electric model, while Jaguar will be entirely electric.
The JLR retailer network is spread across 21 cities in India, through 25 authorised outlets.
