JBM Ecolife Pvt. Ltd. has expanded its electric bus operations with new deployments in Delhi and Gandhinagar, bringing its total fleet to over 3,000 electric buses operating across India.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 103 nine-metre low-floor air-conditioned electric buses on Tuesday, which were subsequently inducted into the city's public transport system. The deployment brings JBM's electric bus fleet in the capital to nearly 1,000 units.
In a separate development, JBM Ecolife signed an agreement with Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation under the central government's PM e-Bus Sewa scheme to supply 100 electric buses. The first phase will see 40 buses delivered by the end of the 2025-26 financial year. The deployment is expected to increase JBM's operational fleet in Gujarat to approximately 500 electric buses.
The buses being supplied to Gandhinagar will be fully air-conditioned 25-seater vehicles equipped with CCTV cameras, automatic doors and accessibility features for senior citizens and differently-abled passengers. A depot and charging infrastructure is being developed to support the operations.
According to company data, JBM electric buses have covered more than 300 million kilometres over the past five years, transported over one billion passengers, and resulted in savings of over one billion kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.
The buses are manufactured at JBM's facility, which the company describes as one of the largest electric bus manufacturing plants globally outside China, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses.
