JBM Auto Limited recorded the highest number of electric bus registrations in India during May 2026, with 157 units logged on the government's Vahan portal. The figure pushed the company's market share to 49 percent for the month, up sharply from 33 percent in April, extending a run of market leadership that began in the previous fiscal year.

The May figures also reflect a methodological change: Telangana's registration data was incorporated into the Vahan portal for the first time during the month, providing a more complete national picture. Analysts noted the adjustment adds context to the month-on-month jump in reported volumes across the industry.

The company operates what it describes as the world's largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, located in the National Capital Region, with an annual capacity of 20,000 buses. JBM Auto states its fleet has collectively covered over 400 million electric kilometres, carried more than one billion passengers, and avoided over one billion kilograms of CO₂ emissions to date.

JBM Auto, attributed its performance to advanced manufacturing capabilities and what it calls high-strength, lightweight bus platforms designed for efficient urban and intercity public transport. The company said it continues to develop electric mobility solutions at scale by leveraging global technologies.
