Indian automotive conglomerate JBM Group has partnered with Singapore-based Keppel Ltd, a global asset manager specializing in sustainable infrastructure. The partnership aims to address critical global challenges by developing solutions in e-mobility, EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Both companies will also explore opportunities in e-waste management, transport electrification, and decarbonizing urban infrastructure.

Keppel will leverage its expertise in integrated clean energy, EV charging, and resource circularity solutions. JBM Group will contribute its knowledge in electric vehicles, EV aggregates, and battery technology to jointly develop innovative projects, including electromobility hubs and resource recovery facilities.

"India and Singapore share a long-standing and robust partnership that was recently elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Singapore in September 2024," said Piyush Goyal. "This significant step enhances collaboration in sustainability, advanced manufacturing, digital technology, and green energy.”

He added, collaborations between Keppel and leading Indian corporations align with India’s priorities, including the energy transition and the India Cooling Action Plan, fostering innovation and paving the way for economic growth and a sustainable future for both nations.

JBM Group and Keppel will conduct feasibility studies and collaborate on EV charging networks and battery energy storage systems to meet the growing demand for decarbonization and renewable energy solutions in commercial and industrial sectors.

Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman, JBM Group, said, “This strategic partnership with Keppel marks a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing the global energy transition and decarbonization goals. The combined synergies of two global leaders joining hands, with JBM’s expertise in e-mobility, renewables, and green manufacturing and Keppel’s innovative solutions in infrastructure and sustainability, aim to deliver transformative outcomes in clean energy and electro-mobility domains.”

Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel’s Infrastructure Division, said India's electricity demand is rapidly rising on the back of its growing economy, urbanization, and electrification. Through forging partnerships with leading partners like JBM Group, Keppel is uniquely positioned to participate in and contribute meaningfully towards India’s sustainable development.

JBM Group, a pioneer in electric buses and battery energy storage systems aims for its e-buses to cover 1 billion e-kilometers in the next 3–4 years as part of its Net Zero 2040 goals.
