Isuzu Motors and Volvo Group have signed an expanded strategic alliance agreement that will see the companies jointly develop a common platform for medium heavy-duty trucks targeting Japan and other Asian markets over the next two decades.
The new deal builds upon the original strategic partnership framework established between the companies in October 2020, extending their collaboration for a minimum of 20 years.
The agreement leverages Volvo Group's advanced technology capabilities while allowing both companies to address evolving logistics industry challenges across Asia.
Under the new agreement, Volvo Group will continue supplying critical components to Isuzu, particularly powertrains, while providing ongoing technical support for development and quality assurance.
The partnership will focus on advancing platform development and strengthening customer support systems to ensure successful market introduction of new vehicle models.
The collaboration between Isuzu Motors and UD Trucks, Volvo Group's Japanese subsidiary, will utilize shared Volvo Group technology to create economies of scale and enhanced industrial efficiency.
