INOX Air Products (INOXAP) flagged off India's first LNG-fuelled cryogenic tanker on Tuesday, following approval from the Petroleum & Safety Organization (PESO) under a June 2025 policy amendment that permits LNG use as transport fuel for cryogenic vehicles.

P Seeniraj, Joint Chief Controller of Explosives at PESO Vadodara Circle, flagged off the tanker. The vehicle uses a 450-litre Kryopower LNG fuel tank manufactured by INOX India Ltd. The deployment is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 25% and particulates by 95% compared to conventional fuel.

The initiative follows an amendment by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to the Static and Mobile Pressure Vessels (Unfired) Rules, 2016. INOXAP is the first industrial gas manufacturer in India to receive this approval.

Speaking on the development, Siddharth Jain, Director, INOX Group, said, "INOXAP is spearheading a clean-energy shift in India's industrial gases sector by flagging off the nation's first LNG-fuelled cryogenic tanker---a transformative step that redefines sustainable logistics while strengthening supply chains for critical industries. We are grateful to DPIIT for enabling this through an extremely progressive policy amendment and PESO for necessary assistance and statutory approvals. This milestone exemplifies the powerful convergence of forward-looking policy, indigenous engineering excellence, and sustainable innovation. It sets a new benchmark in global engineering leadership while delivering scalable, green solutions to power India's manufacturing ecosystem. INOXCVA's LNG fuel tanks are already the most widely deployed in this space, and this achievement is a matter of pride that underscores the strength of synergy within the INOX Group."

Both the cryogenic tanker and LNG fuel tank were manufactured at INOXCVA's facilities in Gujarat. The industrial gases transported will be produced by INOXAP in Gujarat and primarily serve customers within the state.

INOX Air Products operates over 50 locations across India with a manufacturing capacity exceeding 4,700 tonnes per day of liquid gases. The company was established in 1963 as Industrial Oxygen Company Ltd and became a joint venture with Air Products & Chemicals Inc., USA in 1999.
