Indofast Energy and Quantum Energy Launch Affordable Electric Scooter with Battery Swapping
Partnership introduces Bziness XS at ₹57,750 with two-minute battery swaps across 1,100+ stations nationwide.
India's battery-swapping leader Indofast Energy has joined forces with Quantum Energy to launch the Bziness XS electric scooter, marking a significant push toward making electric mobility more accessible to Indian consumers and businesses.
The Bziness XS will be available at an introductory price of ₹57,750 (ex-showroom) under the Battery-as-a-Service model, positioning it as one of the country's most affordable electric two-wheeler options. The scooter is designed specifically for Indian road conditions and targets daily commuters, fleet operators, and gig workers.
The partnership leverages Indofast Energy's established network of over 1,100 battery swap stations across 22 cities, which currently processes 1.4 million battery swaps monthly. The system allows riders to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones in under two minutes, eliminating traditional charging wait times.
Energy plans for the service begin at ₹999 per month, with financing options starting from ₹1,499 per month through EMI schemes. This pricing strategy addresses common barriers to electric vehicle adoption, including high upfront costs and range anxiety.
According to Anant Badjatya, CEO of Indofast Energy, the collaboration represents a shift from niche applications to mainstream electric mobility solutions. "By integrating the Bziness XS with our robust battery swapping infrastructure, we're making electric vehicles not just environmentally sustainable but also economically viable for everyday Indians," he stated.
Chakravarthi C, Managing Director of Quantum Energy Limited, emphasized the changing landscape of Indian mobility. "Mobility in India is shifting rapidly - from ownership to access, and from fuel-driven to electric-driven solutions," he noted, highlighting the operational advantages of the partnership.
The deployment plan calls for 1,000 Bziness XS vehicles to be introduced through Indofast's network during fiscal year 2025-26, with plans to scale up to 10,000 vehicles over the following three years.
Indofast Energy, a joint venture between IndianOil Corporation Limited and SUN Mobility, has facilitated over 43 million battery swaps to date, enabling electric vehicles to travel 1.17 billion kilometers. The company operates under a Battery-as-a-Service model designed to support two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and small four-wheelers.
Quantum Energy Limited focuses on developing electric vehicles tailored to India's diverse mobility requirements, from personal transportation to commercial fleet operations. The company is expanding its presence through a nationwide retail network.
The partnership reflects broader trends in India's electric vehicle sector, where infrastructure development and affordability remain key factors in accelerating adoption rates among both individual consumers and commercial operators.
