IndieSemiC and Nordic Semiconductor Partner to Develop Certified Wireless Modules for IoT Applications

IndieSemiC Private Limited, an Ahmedabad-based semiconductor and chip design company, has partnered with Nordic Semiconductor to design and commercialise wireless modules for connected devices, with the modules already commercially available and seeing adoption across global markets.

Under the partnership, IndieSemiC is responsible for the complete module lifecycle — including RF design, antenna engineering, hardware development, firmware support, testing, validation, certification, and manufacturing — while Nordic Semiconductor provides the core chipset technology. The result is a range of certified, production-ready modules based on Nordic's nRF52 and nRF54 series, covering Bluetooth Low Energy, multi-protocol support for Thread, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, and Matter, and long-range wireless configurations.

The modules are designed for use in smart home devices, wearables, healthcare equipment, industrial IoT systems, smart metering, and automotive connectivity, with an emphasis on low power consumption, security, and scalability.

"This collaboration reflects a significant step towards building globally competitive semiconductor products from India," said Nikul Shah, Founder and CEO of IndieSemiC. "The industry is evolving rapidly, and there is a growing need for reliable, low-power wireless solutions that can scale across applications. Through this partnership, we are not only strengthening our technology capabilities but also expanding our presence in global markets. While global leadership in this space has largely been concentrated in various regions, we believe India is well-positioned emerging as a strong alternative by focusing on design innovation and product development. Our goal is to contribute meaningfully to this shift by building solutions that are designed in India and deployed globally."

"IndiesemiC brings strong RF design and module engineering expertise to Nordic Semiconductor's wireless ecosystem," said Bjørn Åge "Bob" Brandal, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific, Nordic Semiconductor. "By building certified modules based on our ultra-low-power wireless SoCs, they are helping customers accelerate time to market while meeting global performance and regulatory requirements. This collaboration reflects the growing capability of design-led innovation emerging from India and its increasing relevance within the global electronics value chain."

"India is rapidly becoming an important hub for wireless product design and development," said Gaurav Kapoor, Country Manager, India, Nordic Semiconductor. "Module partners such as IndiesemiC play a critical role in enabling local innovation while delivering globally compliant solutions. By leveraging Nordic Semiconductor's low-power wireless platforms, these modules support applications across the range in the IoT domain. This aligns well with India's broader ambitions to strengthen its semiconductor and electronics ecosystem through design-led growth."

IndieSemiC said it will continue to focus on building chip solutions for IoT, wearables, smart electronics, and industrial systems.
