Indian Auto Tech Funding Reaches $1.3 Billion in 2026: Report
Tracxn report shows late-stage rounds account for 60 percent of capital raised as Bengaluru attracts nearly 70 percent of sector funding.
Indian auto tech companies raised $1.3 billion across 97 equity funding rounds between January 1 and October 15, 2026, according to the India Auto Tech 2026 YTD report released by Tracxn Technologies. The total compares with $2.1 billion raised across 195 rounds in calendar year 2025, with figures excluding debt, grants, and post-IPO funding.
Late-stage capital drove the majority of funding activity, with Series C and subsequent rounds accounting for $810 million across eight transactions, representing roughly 60 percent of the total capital raised.
Ten large rounds of $34 million or more contributed approximately 70 percent of the overall funding pool. The largest transaction was Rapido's $240 million Series F round in May 2026, followed by Simple Energy's $180 million Series C in September 2026 and River's $102 million Series C.
Geographically, Bengaluru maintained its dominance as the primary auto tech hub, securing $894 million, or nearly 70 percent of total sector funding. Delhi and Mumbai followed with $107 million each, while Gurugram-based companies secured $63 million.
Mergers and acquisitions moderated to four transactions in 2026 year-to-date, compared to five in 2025. Used-vehicle retailer Cars24 completed two of the acquisitions, purchasing Carinfo for $44.4 million in January 2026 and Vehicleinfo in March 2026. Initial public offerings in the sector dropped to three, down from six in 2025, with Sotefin, Victory EV India, and AutoFurnish recording a combined IPO market capitalization of $52 million.
