India-spec Kia EV9 specs, seating, features unveiled

Kia India is all set to launch the EV9 in the country on October 3, ahead of which, the carmaker has revealed all the details about the electric SUV, including its specs, seating, features, and more.

The India-spec EV9 will be available with its larger 99.8kWh battery pack and dual electric motors for an all-wheel drive configuration. Combined, the two motors produce 384hp and 700Nm of peak torque, helping the SUV sprint from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds. The EV9 will offer an ARAI-certified range of 561km on a single full charge. The battery can be juiced up from 10-80 percent in 24 minutes with a DC fast charger.

The SUV measures 5,015mm in length, 1,980mm in width, stands 1,780mm tall and has a wheelbase of 3,100mm. It will be offered in India in a single fully-loaded GT-Line trim with a standard 6-seat layout. This means that the second-row seats will be captain chairs, just like the new Carnival, also set to be launched on October 3.

Kia will be offering the EV9 in five exterior colour options: Snow White Pearl, Ocean Blue, Pebble Gray, Panthera Metal and Aurora Black Pearl. Two dual-tone interior themes will be available - White & Black and Brown & Blac. The SUV will come standard with 20-inch alloy wheels.

On the features front, the EV9 will get a dual-display setup consisting of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a similarly sized instrument cluster. It also comes with an illuminated steering wheel emblem, dual electric sunroofs, a head-up display, second-row captain seats with leg support, electric adjustment, a massage function, a digital IRVM, a V2L 14-speaker Meridian audio system, a digital key, OTA updates, electrically adjustable steering wheel, six USB Type-C charging ports, three-zone climate control, and much more.

The EV9’s safety suite will consist of 10 airbags, ABS, ESC, downhill brake control, VSM, front, side and rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, 360-degree camera as well as ADAS Level 2 features such as Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and more.

The EV9 will be brought to India as a direct import and will be positioned as the brand’s flagship offering here. It is expected to carry a price tag of over Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). While it will have no direct rivals, the EV9 will give some competition to luxury electric SUVs such as the Mercedes EQE SUV, BMW iX and the Audi Q8 e-tron.
