India’s passenger vehicle sales increased 34.3 per cent year on year to 4,57,810 units in July 2026, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Three-wheeler sales rose 33.4 per cent to 92,560 units, while two-wheeler sales increased 22.6 per cent to 19,23,483 units.
Total production of passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers and quadricycles stood at 33,70,958 units in July 2026. SIAM’s figures show that domestic sales across these categories increased compared with July 2025.
Commenting on the July 2026 performance, Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM, said, “India’s auto industry delivered its strongest-ever July sales, with robust double-digit growth across Passenger Vehicles, Three-Wheelers and Two-Wheelers. Passenger Vehicle sales rose 34.3% to 4.58 lakh units, Three-Wheeler sales grew 33.4% to 0.93 lakh units, and Two-Wheeler sales increased 22.6% to 19.23 lakh units compared with July 2025.”
Menon added that the momentum had been sustained over several months as the industry entered the festive season, with expectations of strong consumer sentiment.
Passenger Vehicle Sales Rise 34.3% in July
Passenger vehicle sales increased from 3,40,772 units in July 2025 to 4,57,810 units in July 2026. SIAM notes that BMW, Mercedes-Benz, JLR and Volvo Auto data were not available, while Tata Motors’ domestic sales data is included only in the total passenger vehicle figure. Without Tata Motors, the total passenger vehicle figure would have been 3,01,251 units in July 2025 and 3,95,199 units in July 2026.
The detailed SIAM report records 3,95,199 domestic passenger vehicle sales for July 2026 across the company-level data available in its sub-segment report. The report also shows 5,05,520 units of passenger vehicle production for the month.
Two-Wheeler Sales Increase 22.6%
Two-wheeler domestic sales rose to 19,23,483 units in July 2026 from 15,69,120 units a year earlier. Scooters accounted for 7,98,190 units, up 23.7 per cent, while motorcycle sales increased 20.7 per cent to 10,74,796 units. Moped sales rose 48.6 percent to 50,497 units.
The detailed report puts total two-wheeler production at 27,18,514 units in July 2026, compared with 21,89,566 units in July 2025. Exports increased to 5,54,258 units from 4,33,873 units during the same period.
Three-Wheeler Sales Grow 33.4%
Three-wheeler domestic sales increased to 92,560 units in July 2026 from 69,403 units in July 2025. Passenger carriers recorded 77,994 units, up 32.9 per cent, while goods carriers grew 40.3 per cent to 12,896 units. E-rickshaw sales increased 7.5 percent to 1,132 units, and E-cart sales rose 16.2 per cent to 538 units.
SIAM’s detailed report shows total three-wheeler production at 1,45,913 units in July 2026, compared with 1,12,241 units in July 2025. Domestic sales stood at 92,560 units, while exports were 52,309 units.
