India and Europe have the potential to jointly account for 23.1 million new car sales by 2035—representing nearly one in four cars sold globally—and over 7.5 million combined vehicle exports, according to Kishor Patil, Vice Chairperson of Nasscom and CEO of KPIT Technologies.
Speaking at ELIV 2026 in Germany, Patil advocated for a "technology superhighway" between the two regions to accelerate software-defined vehicle (SDV) engineering, autonomous technology, digital validation, and automotive AI development.
"The next decade of mobility will reward ecosystems that combine complementary capabilities, rather than geographies that try to build everything on their own," Patil said.
Patil noted that India's technology sector reached US$315 billion in FY26, supported by 2,117 global capability centers (GCCs) and R&D facilities. He urged European OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to transition from traditional vendor delivery models toward long-term joint R&D and shared intellectual property creation.
