Hyundai's i10 Surpasses 3 Million Sales, Maintaining Steady Domestic and Export Growth

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) announced today that its brand i10 has surpassed the 3.3 million sales milestone across domestic and international markets. The achievement marks a significant success for the company's 'Make in India, Made for the World' initiative, with domestic sales exceeding 2 million units and exports reaching 1.3 million units across more than 140 countries.

The i10, now in its 18th year and third generation, has established HMIL as India's largest exporter of passenger vehicles, with exports contributing over 20% of the company's overall sales. South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru constitute the top export markets for the model.

"We are proud of the landmark achievement of surpassing 3 million cumulative sales of HMIL's brand i10. With over 2 million units sold in India and over 1.3 million units exported to global markets, brand i10 stands as a shining example of HMIL's commitment to delivering world-class products," said Mr. Unsoo Kim, Managing Director, HMIL.

"What makes this milestone even more special is the fact that the current generation of i10 has achieved up to 91.3% localization for the domestic market, while it is 91.4% for the export models. This success reflects the trust of our customers, the strength of Indian manufacturing, and HMIL's dedication to creating smart mobility solutions for the world. With our upcoming plant in Maharashtra, we intend to expand exports to emerging as well as developed markets, increasing contribution of exports to overall sales and solidifying our commitment to Make in India, For the World," he added.

The current generation Grand i10 NIOS offers three powertrain options: 1.2 L Kappa Petrol Manual, 1.2 L Kappa Petrol AMT, and 1.2 L Bi-Fuel Kappa Petrol with CNG. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, and 3-point seat belt with seatbelt reminder for all seats as standard.

Consumer data reveals that over 45% of Grand i10 NIOS customers in FY 24-25 were first-time car buyers, and more than 83% of purchasers are married. While popular nationwide, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana represent the model's top three markets.

Since its introduction in 2007, the i10 has evolved significantly to meet changing customer expectations, with HMIL selling an average of over 100,000 units annually in India.
