Hyundai to Bring in Next-Gen Creta in 2027

The second-gen Creta facelift arrived in January last year, but Hyundai has already begun work on the SUV’s third-generation model and plans to launch it in India in 2027.

Next-gen Hyundai Creta: what to expect

Details on the third-gen Creta are scarce, but we know that a new midsize SUV, codenamed SX3, will be made at Hyundai’s plant in Tamil Nadu. It is likely that the current model’s powertrain options – a 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol; a 160hp, 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol; and a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel, paired with either a manual or an automatic transmission – will continue.

However, as we’ve reported, there is potential for a strong hybrid powertrain for the next-gen Creta, which could become the Korean brand’s first hybrid model in our market. It will likely arrive after the Hyundai Ni1i SUV, which slots between the Alcazar and Tucson, and is likely to be powered by a combination of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor.

Besides design updates, the third-gen model is also likely to get a longer features list and more safety equipment to ensure that the Hyundai Creta has elements in common with its stable-mates, both outside and inside the cabin.

Hyundai Creta Electric facelift launch in 2027

Come 2027, the Creta Electric will also receive a mid-cycle refresh, unlike the ICE Creta that will see a full model change. Having launched at Auto Expo 2025 just last month, the Hyundai Creta Electric will be three years into its lifecycle by then. Not much is known about what the update will entail, but we expect tweaks to the design, more tech and added creature comforts, and maybe even longer range due to larger batteries or better battery-management software.
