Hyundai Motor India reported a 30% year-on-year increase in vehicle registrations to nearly 41,000 units during Shradh and Navratri, supported by demand across urban and rural markets. The automaker said the festive season had begun on a strong note, following healthy sales during Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi.
“This year, the festive season has started on a strong note for Hyundai Motor India, driven by robust Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi sales. During Shradh and Navratri, we witnessed registrations grow by 30% YoY to nearly 41,000 units,” said Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India.
The company expects demand momentum to continue through Dhanteras and Diwali, supported by the current pace of bookings. Hyundai has also reported strong customer interest in its upcoming BAYON, which is scheduled for launch early next week.
“Considering the pace of bookings, we expect momentum to continue through Dhanteras and Diwali,” Garg said. He added that demand remained healthy across both urban and rural markets, while the company was witnessing strong customer interest in the new nameplate.
The BAYON launch comes during the ongoing festive buying period, adding another model to Hyundai's Indian portfolio. Garg did not disclose booking numbers for the upcoming vehicle or provide a breakdown of registrations across individual models and markets.
The company's reported registrations cover both Shradh and Navratri, a longer period than the ten-day Navratri window covered by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). The industry body released its provisional festive retail figures on October 21.
According to FADA, passenger vehicle registrations across India reached 1,82,728 units during Navratri 2026, compared with 1,65,534 units during Navratri 2024, representing growth of 10.39%. Against Navratri 2025, registrations declined 21.91% from 2,34,004 units. FADA said last year's Navratri covered 11 days, compared with ten days this year.
Overall automobile retail registrations stood at 11,23,086 units during Navratri 2026, an increase of 26.76% over the comparable 2024 period. Two-wheeler registrations rose 32.41% to 8,34,075 units, while commercial vehicle registrations increased 16.47% to 35,618 units over the same period.
