Hyundai Motor India has announced the name of its upcoming SUV, Bayon, which is set to join the company's SUV portfolio in India. The company said further details about the new model will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The Bayon is described as a new global SUV that will combine Hyundai's global design and product philosophy with technology-focused features aimed at a new generation of Indian customers. The company positions the model as part of its approach to “intelligent mobility”, bringing together technology, design and functionality.
According to Hyundai, the name Bayon is inspired by Bayonne, a city in France's Basque Country known for its distinctive character and dynamic spirit. The name is intended to reflect Hyundai's global design philosophy as well as the new SUV's positioning around adventure and a changing Indian market.
Tarun Garg, managing director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said the Bayon represents a new approach to creating intelligent and intuitive mobility experiences, with technology designed to integrate into customers' everyday lives.
The company has also released a name-reveal film for the upcoming SUV. Set in a futuristic laboratory-inspired environment, the film depicts a series of elements coming together to form the name Bayon, culminating in the message “Intelligence ON.”
The name announcement marks the first stage of Hyundai Bayon's introduction in India, with the company expected to disclose more information about its positioning, technology and other specifications in the coming days.
