The SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS and 143.8 Nm of torque, with six-speed manual and Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT) options.

The engine produces 84.4 kW (115 PS) of maximum power and 143.8 Nm of torque. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) said it has sold more than 6 lakh vehicles equipped with this engine since 2020.

The BAYON’s iVT variant will feature Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech, alongside paddle shifters and three selectable drive modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. The company says these features are intended to adjust transmission response and acceleration to different driving conditions.

Tarun Garg, managing director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, said the BAYON combines the company’s 1.5-litre petrol engine with transmission and driving technologies designed to provide responsive performance across different road conditions.

Hyundai BAYON Engine And Transmission Options

The BAYON will be offered with a choice of a six-speed manual transmission and an Intelligent Variable Transmission. The engine is designed to deliver 115 PS and 143.8 Nm of torque, with Hyundai positioning the powertrain for both urban commuting and highway driving.

The iVT is paired with Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech. Dash Boost Mode is designed to provide quicker acceleration and increased responsiveness during overtaking, while Sporty Drive Tech is intended to deliver a more responsive acceleration experience.

Paddle shifters allow drivers to adjust transmission response from the steering wheel.

Hyundai says the combination of the petrol engine, transmission options and selectable driving modes is designed to accommodate different driving environments, including city traffic and highway journeys.
