Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India expects its domestic sales volume to reach 6 million units in the current financial year ending March 2027, according to a report by The Economic Times. The target reflects a 4.3 percent year-on-year growth compared to domestic dispatches of 5.75 million units recorded in FY26.

During the first half of FY27, the company reported a 13.5 percent year-on-year increase in domestic dispatches to 3.04 million units, securing a market share of approximately 25 percent. Overall domestic two-wheeler industry sales grew 17.6 percent to 12.09 million units during the same period, according to data from SIAM.

Scooters account for roughly 60 percent of Honda's domestic sales volume, compared to an industry average of 40 percent.

"This year, the market and Honda's sales have been very good. Now, with the Navratri season starting, it is going quite well. Considering the current pace, Honda's domestic sales volume may be around six million units for the year, " Tsutsumu Otani, President and CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India was quoted by ET.

To support future demand, Honda plans to expand its total manufacturing capacity from 6.5 million units to 8 million units by 2028. The expansion involves adding two new assembly lines at its existing manufacturing facilities in Tapukara, Rajasthan, and Vithalapur, Gujarat. The additional capacity will accommodate internal combustion engine models, flex-fuel variants, and electric vehicles.
