Honda India has issued a recall for its Rebel 500 motorcycles manufactured between April and August 2025. According to Honda, the handle-lock fixing nut on affected motorcycles may not have been tightened to the specified torque during assembly.
In some cases, this could cause the screw to loosen and potentially affect steering movement. Honda says that no related incidents had been reported in India as of September 30, 2026.
Honda Rebel 500 Recall: What is the Issue?
The recall concerns the handle-lock fixing nut. Honda believes that the nut on motorcycles manufactured during the affected period may not have been tightened to the correct specification.
As a precautionary measure, Honda will replace the affected component on all motorcycles covered by the campaign. The Indian recall forms part of a global recall campaign. Honda sold 96 Rebel 500 motorcycles manufactured during the specified period in India.
Free Replacement for Affected Motorcycles
Honda will replace the handle-lock fixing nut free of charge, irrespective of the motorcycle's warranty status. The recall campaign will begin on November 1, 2026, at authorised Honda BigWing dealerships.
Honda representatives will contact affected customers through phone, SMS or email to inform them about the campaign and schedule the replacement.
How to Check If Your Rebel 500 is Affected
Rebel 500 owners can check whether their motorcycle is part of the recall campaign by entering its vehicle identification number (VIN) in the recall campaign section of Honda's website.
