Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India recorded a growth of around 27% on year in its total sales during December on the back of robust improvement in both domestic volume and exports.
India’s second-largest two-wheeler maker sold a total of 317,123 two-wheelers in December, against 233,151 units in the year-ago period. Domestic sales rose 23 percent to 286,101 units while exports jumped 82% to 31,022 units.
Domestic sales is likely to have grown on a low base in the same period last year and healthy demand, particularly with rural sentiments recovering.
Meanwhile, Hero Motocorp’s total volume in December remained almost flat at 393,952 units, compared with the year-ago period. Bajaj Auto’s total two-wheeler sales grew 15% during the month to 283,001 units while TVS Motor Co recorded 27% growth with 290,064 units.
For the calendar year 2023, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India registered 4,384,559 units in total sales. During the year, the automaker launched Shine 100 and Activa H-Smart. Other noteworthy launches include the new SP160 and the new Dio 125.
