Honda Cars India Targets Double-Digit Growth in FY27, Plans Six New Launches in Major India Push

Honda Cars India Targets Double-Digit Growth in FY27, Plans Six New Launches in Major India Push

Honda Cars India is preparing for one of its biggest product offensives in recent years, targeting double-digit growth in FY2026-27 with six new model launches as the company sharpens its India strategy around SUVs, hybrids and premium offerings.

Speaking at the launch of the refreshed Honda City and the new Honda ZRV SUV, Takashi Nakajima said India has become one of Honda’s top three priority markets globally for future automotive growth.

“This event marks the beginning of a new phase of accelerated growth in India,” Nakajima said, outlining a broader roadmap that includes stronger product pipelines, greater localisation focus, and expansion into newer business areas.

The aggressive expansion comes at a critical phase for Honda Cars India, which has seen its market presence shrink over the past few years amid rapid shifts in customer preference towards SUVs and growing competition from Korean, Japanese, and domestic rivals.

Nakajima said FY27 would be a “milestone year” for the company, with six strategic launches planned to strengthen Honda’s competitiveness and brand positioning in the country.

The company plans to continue the rollout momentum with a mix of global and India-focused products, including a new SUV based on Honda’s Zero platform architecture and another global nameplate featuring advanced hybrid powertrains.

Honda has also confirmed plans to introduce two new SUV models for India from 2028 onwards, including a compact SUV and a B-segment SUV, underscoring a renewed focus on the high-volume utility vehicle market.

Alongside product expansion, Honda is broadening its Indian ecosystem through Honda Finance and its newly formed digital arm, Honda Digital Innovation India, as it builds a stronger mobility and customer engagement platform in the country.

At the launch event, Honda introduced the ZRV SUV for the Indian market as a fully imported flagship model from Japan. The SUV, which has recorded cumulative global sales of over 800,000 units since its debut in 2022, will be brought to India in limited volumes.

Powered by a 2.0-litre hybrid system, the ZRV is expected to strengthen Honda’s premium SUV portfolio while reinforcing its hybrid technology positioning in India.

Nakajima said Honda’s long-term India strategy would remain focused on a mix of sedans and SUVs, while steadily expanding the use of electrified technologies, including strong hybrids, next-generation hybrid systems, and battery electric vehicles.
