Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has achieved a milestone with 50,000 Honda SENSING ADAS-equipped vehicles now on Indian roads. The company offers Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology across its entire lineup, including the City e:HEV, Elevate, City, and Amaze. The Honda Amaze is currently the most affordable ADAS-equipped car in the country.
Honda introduced its ADAS technology in India with the launch of the City e:HEV in May 2022, followed by its expansion to the Honda City in March 2023, the Honda Elevate in September 2023, and the Honda Amaze in December 2024. With the latest Amaze, now in its third generation, Honda has made ADAS technology accessible to a wider range of customers.
According to sales data, ADAS-equipped variants contribute to 60% of Elevate sales, 95% of City sales, and 30% of Amaze sales. Additionally, among buyers who chose ADAS-equipped models, every second customer cited safety technology as a primary reason for their purchase, Honda claimed.
Honda was the first automaker in India to introduce ADAS in manual transmission variants, starting with the Honda City in 2023. The company now offers Honda SENSING in multiple variants across its portfolio. The V, VX, and ZX grades of the Honda City, the ZX grade of the Honda Elevate, and the ZX grade of the Honda Amaze are all equipped with Honda SENSING in both manual and CVT options, while the technology is standard in the Honda City e:HEV.
Honda SENSING features a front wide-view camera with a far-reaching detection system that scans the road ahead, detecting lane markings, road boundaries, and other objects, including motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians. It is designed to alert drivers to potential hazards and, in some cases, intervene to prevent or reduce the severity of collisions.
The system includes features such as the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN), and Auto High-Beam (AHB).
