Honda Cars India Posts 31% Sales Growth in May 2026
Export volumes jump 34% while domestic shipments rise amid new product introductions
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) reported a 31% year-on-year increase in total sales for May 2026, delivering 7,853 units across domestic and international markets. The growth comes despite broader automotive market concerns regarding fluctuating fuel prices.
The carmaker's domestic sales rose to 5,111 units during the month, up nearly 30% from the 3,950 units recorded in May 2025. Overseas shipments also saw an upward trajectory, with exports increasing 34% to 2,742 units compared to 2,035 units in the corresponding month last year. Company officials attributed the sustained market momentum to steady demand for core models like the Amaze and Elevate, alongside the recent commercial introduction of the updated Honda City and the local premiere of the ZR-V SUV.
All manufacturing and assembly operations are consolidated at its primary production facility located in Tapukara, Alwar district, Rajasthan. In addition to its primary new vehicle sales and distribution network, the company manages a certified pre-owned vehicle division under the Honda Auto Terrace brand.
