Honda Cars India Domestic Sales Down 27% in February

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) recorded total sales of 10,323 units in February 2025. The company reported domestic sales of 5,616 units, a 27.17% decrease year-on-year. Exports stood at 4,707 units during the month.

Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at Honda Cars India Ltd., acknowledged the sluggish market conditions, highlighting the reduction in car registrations and the difficulty in generating fresh demand compared to the previous year. However, he expressed optimism about the company’s performance, attributing the steady sales to the recent launch of the All-New Amaze and special editions of the Elevate Black and City Apex. These new offerings have received a positive response from customers, helping Honda maintain its market presence.

A year-on-year comparison indicates a decline in domestic sales. In February 2024, HCIL had sold 7,142 units in the domestic market and exported 5,936 units. This represents a drop in both domestic and export figures for February 2025. However, Honda remains hopeful that policy measures introduced in the Union Budget 2026 will boost consumer demand and contribute to market recovery.

On the export front, Honda Cars India continues to perform well, with strong demand for the Elevate and City models in international markets. The company remains focused on expanding its presence in key overseas regions while reinforcing its domestic operations.

The Indian automobile industry has been grappling with multiple challenges, including fluctuating demand, supply chain disruptions, and evolving consumer preferences.

Established in December 1995, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) is a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Japan.

Honda’s portfolio in India includes models known for their advanced design, durability, safety, and reliability. In addition to manufacturing new vehicles, Honda also operates Honda Auto Terrace, a platform dedicated for the sale and purchase of certified pre-owned cars.
