Hitachi Payment Services, a provider of payments and commerce solutions, has partnered with AbhiBus, a bus booking platform, to implement an Integrated Ticketing Management System (IMTS) and cashless ticketing solutions for Himachal Pradesh's state-run buses. This initiative aims to improve the passenger experience and promote cashless travel across more than 3,100 buses in the state.
The digital transit solution will allow passengers to check real-time seat availability, make advance bookings through the HRTC mobile app or website, and purchase tickets at bus counters or while en route using GPRS-enabled Electronic Bus Ticketing Machines (EBTM).
Passengers will have multiple digital payment options, including debit/credit cards, UPI, QR code, prepaid wallets, and the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). Those eligible for free or concessional fares can use their smart card passes to receive the appropriate ticket through the EBTM, which records both full and concession fares.
Anuj Khosla, CEO of Digital Business at Hitachi Payment Services, expressed satisfaction with securing the HRTC project, noting that it will provide greater convenience for passengers while improving efficiency for transport operators. Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer at AbhiBus, highlighted the project's role in enhancing the ticketing and travel experience for over 3,100 buses.
Shri Rohan Chand Thakur, IAS, Managing Director of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), emphasised the benefits of the Integrated Ticketing Management System, which includes real-time access to bus schedules and the introduction of digital payments, both of which aim to enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency for conductors.
