Hero MotoCorp CEO Niranjan Gupta, CBO Ranjivjit Singh to exit

The company announced that Niranjan Gupta has decided to pursue other opportunities and is stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer.

India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Friday said its Chief Executive Officer Niranjan Gupta has resigned from the company. The automaker’s current Executive Director for Operations Vikram Kasbekar will be the acting CEO.

“The company announced that Niranjan Gupta has decided to pursue other opportunities and is stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer of the company. His last working day will be April 30, 2025.,” the company said in an exchange filing.

Gupta will step down after two year in the CEO's role. He was elevated from the role of chief financial officer and head of Strategy and M&A in May 2022. 

Kasbekar will be appointed as the acting CEO from May 1. He served in key roles, such as head of operations, head of supply chain, and chief technology officer, before becoming the first employee of Hero MotoCorp to be elevated to the position of a director on the board.

Meanwhile, Ram Kuppuswamy, currently the automaker’s chief procurement officer, will assume the additional role of chief operations officer for manufacturing from April 1. Apart from procurement, he will now also oversee all plant operations and quality functions.

“In his new role, Ram will strategically review and optimize the manufacturing and supplier footprint to align with the company’s evolving business and growth strategy,” the company said.

Ranjivjit Singh will also step down from the role of Chief Business Officer. Current National Sales Head for India Business unit Ashutosh Varma will become the new CBO for international business from May 1.

Hero MotoCorp noted that Varma will lead India business unit’s restructuring to accelerate growth and expand market leadership.

Also, Jyoti Singh, the head of R&D divisions’s HR take the additional role of Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer from February 1.

The EV & Emerging Mobility Business Unit, which handles Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle business, will transition to a fully independent and empowered unit from February 1.
