Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, announced on Monday that actor Ishaan Khatter will serve as brand ambassador for its Hero Xoom scooter range. The appointment coincides with the launch of a new advertising campaign for the product line, which targets younger consumers in the Indian two-wheeler market.
The campaign, produced by McCann India, part of Omnicom Advertising India, features Khatter performing stunts and riding alongside a co-star through city streets. The accompanying soundtrack is a reworked version of a well-known song, performed by veteran playback singer Usha Uthup, adapted with wordplay on the product name.
Aashish Midha, Head of Marketing at Hero MotoCorp, said the company aims to strengthen its connection with newer riders through the campaign. Midha described the Hero Xoom as a product focused on design and performance that is intended to appeal to a younger demographic.
Khatter, commenting on his involvement, described the production as combining elements of action and romance, and said the use of a recreated iconic track was central to the campaign's tone.
The Hero Xoom range currently comprises three models, the Xoom 110, Xoom 125, and Xoom 160. The first two are available through Hero MotoCorp's standard dealership network nationwide, while the Xoom 160 is sold exclusively through the company's premium Hero Premia dealership channel.
Hero MotoCorp is headquartered in New Delhi and reports annual revenue of approximately $5 billion. The company operates manufacturing facilities in six locations in India, as well as plants in Colombia and Bangladesh, and maintains a customer base of over 125 million across 52 countries.
