Haryana Govt Urges Auto Component Firms to Localize EV Supply Chains

Automotive component manufacturers must prioritize research investment, intellectual property documentation, and domestic patent filings to capture emerging supply chain opportunities as national electric vehicle penetration scales, according to Sanjeev Chawla, Additional Development Commissioner for the MSME Development and Facilitation Office under the Government of Haryana

Speaking at the ASSOCHAM Northern Region EV Ancillaries and Auto Components Conclave 2026 in Gurugram, Chawla noted that domestic electric vehicle penetration currently tracks at approximately 8.5 per cent, representing roughly 50 lakh active vehicles.

Official volume projections indicate that market adoption is expected to rise to 30 per cent by 2030, creating critical supply demands across sub-assembly segments including suspension units, battery management systems, switches, wiring harnesses, and brushless DC motors.

To support manufacturing adjustments, the state administration is maintaining its current EV industrial framework through 2027 under its broader umbrella policy, 'Invest in Haryana 2026', with a specialized MSME structural policy scheduled for executive release within the coming month.

In response to shifting drivetrain requirements, the state has categorized the electric vehicle supply network as a high-priority sector under the Haryana Industrial Policy 2026 to foster localized development and support component integration among Tier-1 and micro, small, and medium enterprise suppliers.
