Hot on the heels of the Harley-Davidson X440’s partial reveal, we have now learned that the made-in-India bike will now be launched on July 3. This will be just a week after the Bajaj-Triumph bikes make their global debut.

Harley-Davidson X 440 styling, engine
The X 440 will be the first product to emerge from Harley’s partnership with Hero MotoCorp and will be manufactured right here in India. The bike will be powered by an air-/oil-cooled, 440cc, single-cylinder engine with a focus on low and mid-range grunt over an explosive top-end. While no official output figures have been revealed at the minute, this engine, in all likelihood, will make higher peak output figures than the Royal Enfield Classic 350 (20hp, 27Nm).

A few other details that stand out are the single downtube tubular frame, which is suspended by a USD fork and twin shock absorbers. The bike runs on MRF tyres shod on 18-/17-inch wheels (F/R), which look very similar to that of the Pirelli Phantom Sportcomp.

Fit and finish appears to be quite premium with machined highlights on the alloy wheels and oil-cooler, premium touches such as the indicators with the HD logo and high-quality nuts and fasteners visible.

Considering the fact that this bike will take on the behemoth that is the Royal Enfield Classic 350, it is fair to expect competitive pricing, around the Rs 2 lakh mark, for a simpler version of this model.
