The three-wheeler (3W) segment in India is witnessing steady growth, with the L5 Diesel category recording sales of 167,000 units in Q1 FY26, reflecting a 12% year-on-year increase. During the same period, EV adoption across the broader three-wheeler market rose from 17% to 31% compared to the previous year. Amid this expanding demand, Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML) has reinforced its presence in the E3W space through product innovation and strategic market initiatives.
The company achieved a 4% market share in the L5 diesel segment with its OBD2B-compliant diesel variant, while also broadening its portfolio with recent entries into compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered vehicles. This multi-fuel approach positions GEML as a provider of fuel-agnostic commercial mobility solutions, catering to diverse operational requirements across urban and semi-urban logistics.
Improved product offerings, enhanced dealer coordination, and targeted market strategies contributed to GEML recording its significantly high sales in over a year during June 2025.
Vikas Singh, Managing Director of Greaves Electric Mobility, noted the progress in the company’s three-wheeler business, highlighting the recent launch of the Eltra City XTRA electric cargo vehicle. The model garnered attention after completing a 324 km journey on a single charge from Bengaluru to Ranipet—an achievement cited as a national benchmark for range performance in the segment.
Singh also addressed broader industry concerns, including the availability of rare earth metals used in electric vehicle manufacturing. He emphasized that Greaves has implemented proactive supply chain measures and increased local sourcing of components, which support consistent production and readiness for seasonal demand peaks.
To improve after-sales support, the company has expanded its service network to over 400 service touchpoints nationwide, maintaining a 98% availability rate for spare parts—one of the highest in the Indian EV sector. GEML also continues to invest in digital infrastructure to enhance customer engagement and streamline service delivery.
As the commercial electric mobility market evolves, Greaves Electric Mobility is positioning itself to scale operations through technological development, supply chain resilience, and customer-focused service expansion.
