Girder installation near Anandnagar completed, to help smoothen traffic congestion in Mumbai
Upgrade of the current 2+2 lane bridge to 4+4 will benefit both small and heavy vehicles on the expressway.
The installation of a critical girder at the Anandnagar subway rail over bridge near Kopri along the Eastern Expressway was completed on Sunday, according to the commissioner of MMRDA.
He added that the project will result in the upgrade of the current 2+2 lane bridge to 4+4, benefiting both small and heavy vehicles on the expressway and reducing traffic congestion.

The MMRDA officials stated that the authority and contractors employed a total of 50 people during the actual girder erection, which occurred between Saturday and Sunday night. Two cranes with a capacity of 200 tonnes were used, with an additional one kept as a spare. A couple of 100-ton cranes were also used to place the girders. The girder construction completed 85 percent of the project.
MMRDA will bear the entire project cost, which is expected to exceed Rs 258 crore, the officials remarked.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is responsible for developing plans, policies, and programmes, implementing projects, and guiding investment in and around the Mumbai region.
