SiliconAuto, a JV between Stellantis and Foxconn, has established its R&D centre in Bengaluru that will look at semiconductor product design and system on chip development for the auto sector, PTI noted. 

SiliconAuto CEO Gene Liu noted in a statement that the centre embodied the company's commitment to innovation in the automotive industry. "Our India team is set to drive forward our vision of a smarter and safer future for transportation." 

PTI further noted that Foxconn was in the course of establishing its EV manufacturing plant and also aimed to establish a battery manufacturing unit for electric vehicles. 

SiliconAuto in a statement noted that the India design centre would look at the development of next gen semiconductor solutions for EVs, autonomous driving and connected car technologies.
