FlixBus India Launches Electric Bus Service on Hyderabad-Vijayawada Route
The company will start with four electric buses on this route, beginning operations in the last week of February.
FlixBus India marked its first anniversary by introducing electric bus service between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, partnering with ETO Motors for the initiative.
Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar flagged off the service at ITC Kakatiya, Hyderabad, in the presence of German Embassy Counsellor Alexander Reck and FlixBus India Managing Director Surya Khurana.
The company will start with four electric buses on this route, beginning operations in the last week of February. A two-week test run will precede the launch, followed by a 12-week evaluation period to assess battery performance and booking patterns.
Thunder Plus will provide charging infrastructure with 240 KW fast chargers at depots. The buses will be equipped with dashcams, GPS, and ADAS for passenger safety.
"FlixBus India has connected 200 cities in its first year with tech-driven bus services. The electric buses align with our country's sustainability goals while addressing mobility challenges," said Khurana.
The company has established over 400 connections in South India and 500 in the North, operating routes like Bangalore-Hyderabad, Chennai-Madurai, and Delhi-Lucknow. Monthly ridership has increased sixfold over the year.
FlixBus works with small and medium bus operators, providing technology tools for network planning and revenue management. The company aims to expand its network further across India while maintaining focus on service quality and passenger safety.
The parent company, Flix, operates in more than 40 countries across four continents and plans to achieve carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 and globally by 2050.
