Amid a strong global push and aggressive expansion plans for the Norton brand, TVS Motor Company is set to bring Nick Rogers, the former tech head of Jaguar Land Rover, into its senior leadership team of Engineering and Technology.
Sources say he is likely to join TVS next month and will be based at TVS Motors' New Bengaluru Tech centre. According to sources familiar with the matter, Rogers' strong pedigree and understanding of the European automotive industry will be pivotal to the global expansion of the Norton brand.
Rogers has been the chairman of Israeli-based motor maker EVR Motor since April 2024. He served Tata Motors-owned JLR for 22 years, during which he was a board member and executive director of product engineering and research. His appointment at TVS Motor Company comes at a time when two-wheeler electrification is gathering pace, and the segment is emerging as a key testbed for new technologies, especially in India.
The company has significantly stepped up its long-term technology play, with R&D expenditure crossing ₹1,000 crore for the first time in FY25 and a commitment of ₹5,000 crore to future mobility technologies.
This push is being reinforced through global expansion, including the acquisition of Engines Engineering to establish a design and engineering hub in Bologna, Italy, focused on modular platforms and rapid prototyping. Backed by a growing pool of over 2,000 engineers and a sharp expansion of digital capabilities led by globally proven talent like Rogers, the strategy underlines a clear intent to build a global engineering competence.
The company is also reinforcing its global brand image, particularly after the acquisition of British luxury motorcycle marque Norton Motorcycles, which has recently showcased its new product line under the new leadership.
Meanwhile, TVS Motor is the market leader in India’s electric vehicle segment. The company is investing heavily in electrification and new technology, expanding product lines across powertrains while balancing electric vehicles, ICE, and premium offerings to serve diversified consumer demand. Rogers' decades of experience will come in handy to sharpen the brand's tech-first push.
Expanding its international presence is a major pillar on which TVS Motor is betting on for future growth. TVS Motor has a presence in several countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The company recently entered Europe, starting with France and Italy, by initially offering premium electric and ICE two-wheelers.
