Eraaya Lifespaces has announced that its Indian subsidiary, Ebix Technologies Limited (formerly EbixCash Limited), has secured a ₹140 crore contract from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) for the statewide implementation of the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). This project, the first of its kind in India for concessionary passengers, supports the Government of India’s ‘One Nation One Card’ initiative and aims to improve public transit systems with an integrated digital payment solution.
Ebix Technologies previously implemented 38,622 Android-based electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) and an online reservation system for MSRTC under a 2022 contract. Over two years, the system has enabled the issuance of approximately 220 crore tickets across a fleet of 16,000 buses, serving an estimated 13 crore passengers per month.
Building on this partnership, the new project will introduce mandatory NCMC smartcards for concessional passengers and pass holders, while regular passengers can opt in. The goal is to sell 70 lakh NCMC cards in the first year, with over 2 crore cards expected to be distributed through 3,000 dedicated retail outlets across the state. Card recharge options will be accessible both online and via physical locations.
The system includes Aadhaar-based APIs to authenticate senior citizens, women passengers, and Amrut cardholders, while student verification will be handled via Saral APIs. These tools will help manage over 50 concessional categories and improve subsidy targeting.
Once fully operational, the initiative is projected to process over ₹2,000 crore in annual digital transactions. Eraaya Lifespaces noted this project as part of a broader effort to modernize public transport, enhance transparency, and create a scalable model for nationwide mobility integration.
