Energy In Motion Opens Rewari EV Station, Plans 40 Across India

Energy In Motion Ltd (EIM) has inaugurated a heavy-duty battery swapping-cum-charging station at Rewari, Haryana, along the NH-48 Delhi-Mumbai corridor. The facility is part of EIM’s network serving electric freight movement on the route.

The Rewari station joins EIM’s existing facilities at Palwal and Kotputli. The company said each of the three stations has a connected load of 2.5MW. EIM plans to establish 40 such stations across India in the current financial year, with eight already operational and seven more at various stages of installation.

According to EIM managing director Narendra Murkumbi, the Rewari facility can swap a discharged battery in an electric heavy commercial vehicle (e-HCV) in around seven minutes, compared with the company’s stated 55-60-minute charging time using a conventional charger. The station is designed to serve more than 150 vehicles a day, the company said.

EIM Rewari Station To Serve Electric Freight On NH-48

The Rewari facility is intended to provide battery-swapping and charging infrastructure closer to the NH-48 freight corridor. EIM said its swapping model allows a depleted battery to be replaced with a charged unit, reducing the time heavy electric vehicles remain stationary for energy replenishment.

EIM said the station uses its battery-swapping model alongside a 350kWh battery. Murkumbi said the combination could increase monthly return trips on a corridor by 10% for logistics service providers, although this is a company estimate rather than an independently verified figure.

EIM Plans 40 Heavy-Duty Swapping Stations

EIM plans to set up 40 heavy-duty battery swapping-cum-charging stations across India during the current financial year. The company said eight are currently operational, while seven additional stations are in different stages of installation.

The Rewari station forms part of the company’s broader network alongside facilities at Palwal and Kotputli, each with a connected load of 2.5MW.

EIM also operates its ‘Maitryi’ Battery as a Service (BaaS) model. The company said this model can reduce a customer’s upfront capital deployment when purchasing a heavy-duty electric truck by 40%.

EIM Battery Swapping Model Targets Heavy Commercial Vehicles

EIM’s stated focus is on electric heavy commercial vehicles, battery swapping infrastructure, charging and energy solutions, and operational support systems for high-utilisation freight fleets. The company is targeting applications across ports, logistics hubs and industrial freight corridors.
